Somaly Mam 2009 Benefit Gala

The 2009 Somaly Mam Foundation Benefit Gala took place at 583 Park Avenue.  Under TK New York’s guidance and leadership, the Foundation hosted over 300 guests to honor human rights activist, Susan Sarandon. In attendance to help honor, Ms. Sarandon were other activists such as Russell Simmons, Laurie Holden, Dr. Ruth, Norman Jean Roy, Amy Dixson, Brooklyn Decker, Hahn-Bin, and Somaly Mam herself.  Wowed by a powerful program including survivor testimonies and song performances, the crowd raised funds to fight human trafficking through live and silent auctions as well as through sales of Cambodian silk scarves and necklaces made by the survivors themselves.  The event décor creatively incorporated The Lipstick Portraits, a collection photographed by photographer Michael Angelo, representing the loss of beauty in the sex trafficking industry.  TK New York worked with designer, Justin Ibrahim on design and décor elements while directing all elements of the event including PR, Audio visual, stage management, RSVP/list management, auction item procurement, and sponsor management. The 2009 Somaly Mam Foundation benefit gala rose over $300,000 for the fight against human trafficking and sex slavery in Cambodia.
